About Community Involvement Broadcast: Green Hong Kong, a liveable city
The people of Hong Kong have long held the reputation of being environmentally unaware. On the issue of protecting the environment, most of them would think, “What do I have to do with protecting the environment?” In fact, environmental protection is relevant to every human being on this planet, as we can be deeply affected by, for instance, the changing climate, breaking the food chain, and high-rise, wind-blocking buildings. If our environment becomes deteriorated to an irreversible level, we will bear the consequences of not taking appropriate, responsive measures.
Pilot Project for Community Involvement Broadcasting Service and Community Involvement
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (The Government) is taking forward a three-year Pilot Project for Community Involvement Broadcasting Service (CIBS). Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) was tasked to devote part of its airtime and resources within the development of digital services to provide a platform for the community, non-governmental organisations and the underprivileged to participate in broadcasting. The Government has also allocated $45 million to establish the Community Involvement Broadcasting Fund (CIBF) to provide funding for application by groups or individuals interested in producing radio programmes under the CIBS.
